I had an impression and a vision yesterday, one that is so strong that I simply MUST share it. I felt impressed to communicate that, as Christians, we are indeed aliens in this realm. Because we don’t belong here, many of us are floundering, flopping around, with no true direction … feeling that we do not fit in. That is because we don’t! However, there is a culture to which we do belong – our true culture – one where we have the key and speak the language: the language of The Alien.
“My kingdom is not of this world.” (John 18:36 KJV)
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” (John 17:16 KJV)
We are not of this world! Jesus, THE ruling authority, told Pilate that His Kingdom is not of this world. That means that ours is not, either! We are truly aliens! Most of us know we are aliens, and some joke about it. But it is NO LAUGHING MATTER, not when the end of days is steadily marching toward us.
Every kingdom has its own culture. Have we taken time to learn the culture of this Kingdom? We must understand our true culture, even though we are born into and subsequently embedded into the false culture of this world – one of evil, rioting, murder and fake news. We must learn who we truly are and how to function. In order to do this, we must learn how to speak the language of the motherland – the Kingdom of God – and the language of the alien.
I watched a movie awhile back where aliens landed on earth. Their ship hovered twenty feet above the ground, so the scientists had to climb up into it. The aliens didn’t make it easy for them. Once inside the craft, they found themselves sideways at a 90-degree angle to the earth. The aliens had taken every care to protect the scientists from themselves, knowing that their very presence could threaten their lives. They had a clear protective barrier, a transparent wall, and used it like a whiteboard to write on in some type of smoky, quickly disappearing ink. This alien species took the time to teach them their language – their alphabet first, and then words – in their native tongue. The aliens, in this way, had effectively taught them how to communicate with their species.
Stay with me! God is showing us something here.
Just a few nights ago I watched, for the very first time, “The Miracle Worker”. It was in black and white, made the year I was born, so it’s an old movie. Anyway, we all know the Helen Keller storyline, and how her teacher, Annie Sullivan, taught her sign language. Helen was little more than a beast, without any way to communicate, which frustrated both her and her family. However, in watching the movie, it struck me that until Helen understood that the “finger games” that Annie was using to teach her was the NAME of the object, there was no communication to be had. It wasn’t until the famous water-pump scene that Helen finally made the connection that these hand movements were the names of the objects she was touching. Annie had taught her words – the names of these objects – and in so doing, had taught her how to communicate with others that were alien to her – those not blind and deaf.
Now God is trying to teach us aliens to make the connection. Please hear His heart! God wastes nothing. These movies, although at the time considered mere entertainment, were broken pieces of bread and fish placed into my basket, to pull out later as food for others. In short, watching these movies allowed God to use them to explain – in easily relatable, earthen vessel (earthling) terms – why we have so many issues trying to become Christ-like.
It is because we don’t speak the same language! What we are speaking is akin to Spanglish – a mixture of two different cultures, two different languages. He has chosen this season in time to teach us how to communicate with Him, in His language and His dialect, in the purity of our true culture, so that we can speak in our true native tongue: The Language of The Alien! Without the ability to communicate with God – to really communicate His way, in His Name – we can achieve a modicum of success, but we will never truly understand Him. Our goal in this next season is to make the connection…to CONNECT with God. This way we grow closer to Him and understand Him, and in so doing, understand ourselves as well as our true culture as Kingdom citizens.
What God showed me is the Bible is not a book of rules and regulations – it is an instruction manual to learn how to communicate with God. He trains us in the way that we can best communicate with Him. Look at Jesus! He went away for hours to pray, sometimes all night. He went into solitary places and high up on mountaintops to be alone with God. Although the Bible doesn’t expressly say so, we can guess that God did most of the talking, since Jesus said that He only says what He hears the Father saying (see John 12:49)! We need to speak the same language as Jesus, who speaks the same language as the Father. The language of The Father is the language of The Alien. We can no longer afford to mix the world’s language with His language, or the world’s culture with His culture … our true culture. It is all-or-nothing time.
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” (Genesis 1:26 KJV)
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16 KJV)
But Good News! He has released the ultimate cure, The Miracle Worker – Holy Spirit! Holy Spirit comes to dwell within us, drawing us unto holiness, becoming our translator, helping us to speak and understand the language of The Alien, the language of love – the language of God. He has come to convict and to lead and guide us into all truth and to help us overcome those obstacles that stand in the way to the fullness of who we truly are in God.
God also showed me the one key that we need: Holiness. He is holy, so we need to be holy. Holiness is the key in the lock that allows entry through the door to communing with God. Communing with God is the root of communication with God. We cannot grow closer to God, to our own ultimate likeness, without holiness. This is why we simply cannot understand God – without being like Him.
As this earth-clock steadily ticks toward midnight, I feel in my spirit that it is IMPERATIVE that we learn who we TRULY are – not who the earth realm has taught us to believe we are. Only the Holy Spirit of God can train or retrain us to know our true identity. Allow the Spirit of God to instruct you in these final hours; to teach you to unlock the door to communicating with our Heavenly Father, becoming more and more like Him, as well as becoming the true Alien that you were created to be.
I pray He speaks to you through this word today. Blessings to you in the Language of the Alien!
