I heard the Lord say, “Life is like dividing flowers!”

Forrest Gump said, “Life is like a box of chocolates…” I heard the Lord say, “Life is like dividing flowers!”

I bought some flowering hanging baskets at the grocery store the other day to brighten up my back porch. They kept wilting, however, no matter how much water I gave them they would dry out almost instantly. My husband said, “You get what you pay for!”

But I was determined to figure out why they were not thriving. Upon closer inspection, I realized there were way too many flowers in each pot, and they were overcrowded. Pretty to look at in the short run, as long as they last; totally unhealthy in the long run, since they are all competing for the same water and nutrients.

This morning I set about dividing up the flowers into two hanging baskets. I lined one basket with fertilized dirt (thank you rabbits from last year) and carefully inserted my fingers into the tangled mass of flowers and stems, moving some flower stems over to the other side of the pot to avoid breaking them. Once I saw a clear path on the surface of their existing soil, I stuck my fingers deep in between them, dividing the soil all the way to the bottom of the pot.

As I did this, I could hear a slight tearing sound, and realized, as I slowly separated the one hanging plant into two parts, that roots were being severed. As I gently pulled one of the sections out of the basket, several flower heads dropped off, as did a few leaves. There were many roots exposed, hanging out of the dirt in my hands. As I set the section into the new pot, I saw so clearly how root bound this flowering hanging basket truly was.

It was then that I heard the Lord say, “This is how life is – like dividing flowers. No matter how careful I am, some will be hurt. No matter how gentle I am, some will lose their heads and leave.”

“Jesus said to the Twelve, Will you also go away? [And do you too desire to leave Me?]” (John 6:67 AMPC).

I walked into my kitchen to get some water for the two new potted plants as the Lord continued.

“The same is true of my children. It is for their best benefit that they separate from their current circumstances. They are root bound, although they feel they are where they are supposed to be. In truth, they are competing with each other for water, and food. But since their roots are completely intertwined, some of them will be torn apart and injured – because they simply will not let go.”

“Some will go into shock. Some may not make it … if they do not choose to dig in to their new soil, which I have prepared for them beforehand – a new home, a new land.”

“For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].” (Ephesians 2:10 AMPC).

“However, some will indeed grow and bloom and blossom in the new place into which I have set them! They will thrive, and not just survive.  They will spread and increase and fruit at my hand.”

“Allow me to be The Great Divider. I am just, and I am gentle. Trust Me and allow me to separate you from situations that are not allowing you to grow and bloom and blossom. Choose to thrive in the new land under my hand, in my care,” says God.

“Who caused His glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, Who divided the waters before them to make for Himself an everlasting name….” (Isaiah 63:12 NASB).

“Some parts of your life will die, and that’s OK! They need to! They are not part of your future, your destiny. Allow them to die and fall to the ground.”

“Be the flowers that choose to bloom in fresh soil, soil that is fertilized and ready to feed you in your new land.”

“And He brought us into this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.” (Deuteronomy 26:9 AMPC).

IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT!  IN THE DARKNESS! Get ready for a BUT GOD, first-day-of-the-week, early dawn, stone-rolled-away, empty-tomb encounter with God’s TRUE plan for your life! (Luke 24:1-3)

Your SUDDENLY is alive! Just as the women went to Jesus’ burial site, embalming spices in hand, ready for “business as usual”, didn’t expect Him to be gone but found an empty tomb! They didn’t expect Him to be alive, even though He had told them He would be (see Matthew 16:21, Mark 9:31)! They were just going to work, like normal, natural people with a normal, natural mind-set, expecting the usual.

They expected Him – and their dreams – to be dead and buried. But God is alive, and so are His suddenlies!

It was the day of Preparation [for the Sabbath], and the Sabbath was dawning (approaching).  The women who had come with [Jesus] from Galilee followed closely and saw the tomb and how His body was laid.  Then they went back and made ready spices and ointments (perfumes). On the Sabbath day they rested in accordance with the commandment,” (Luke 23:54-56).

Notice that the women “…rested in accordance with the commandment,” (Luke 23:56). They were forced to rest! They were forced to wait an entire day before they could go and anoint His body. Why? Because during those long, painful hours beginning at sundown, in the dark of night, during the Sabbath, the Lord was doing a mighty, resurrection-power work! Sometimes He forces us to enter into rest, a FORCED waiting period  – so He can work in the darkness!

THERE HAD TO BE A NIGHT OF DARKNESS for dawn to appear! I am telling you now, as surely as Luke 24:1 says, But on the first day of the week, at early dawn…” your daybreak will bring a SUDDENLY of biblical proportions! It is alive! There is always a BUT with God! In the early dawn hours, as you rise to perform yet another mundane, normal, natural day of “business as usual”, God has other plans, and they are good (see Jeremiah 29:11)!

Today is only the day of preparation! Our Supernatural God has supernatural plans for His supernatural progeny – You and Me! We don’t get to live by normal standards! We get to live supernaturally, according to His plans and purposes for our lives! We get to walk up to the tomb and find it empty! We get to go to work, just like normal, and find that God has supernaturally turned it all around – SUDDENLY! We GET to see what was once dead is SUDDENLY ALIVE!

It happens at NIGHT! IN THE DARKNESS! While we are in a forced position of rest – according to the commandment – God is working to turn it all around for our good, because we are called by His name according to His purposes (see Romans 8:28)! Go ahead and rest easy, because God is at work!

Get ready, get ready, get ready! Your daybreak is coming! Your waiting period is almost over! Once Your supernatural SUDDENLY has happened, OVERNIGHT your entire destiny will change!

I know you can hardly wait to wake up now! I am so excited for you!

Many blessings from the Living God, King of the Living Suddenly!
