Today in worship I was in the cab of an old pickup with Jesus. I saw myself in the driver’s seat, then I saw Jesus in the driver’s seat, back and forth, back and forth we kept rapidly switching positions. Finally I was in the passenger seat, but I was fighting Him for control of the steering wheel.
He looked at me and firmly said, “Take your hands off the steering wheel!”
I did, but then I grabbed the shifter knob! Moving my hands off of the shifter, He told me, “Go over there. Sit down and watch!” I slid all the way over to the far side of the passenger seat, slumped down in my seat and looked out the window, pouting.
He said, “Rest in Me! Decisions happen. Let them happen to you. Watch and see what I will do!”
Looking out, I suddenly saw what was happening outside the window. I realized that I was looking at something that only Jesus could do. It was completely amazing and it captivated me!
He said to me, “You haven’t even looked in the bed of the truck yet!” I realized He was right – I had no idea what cargo we were carrying. As I turned around to look out the rear window into the bed of the pickup truck, I saw a pile of gold and a rainbow.
He knows what you are carrying, even if you don’t! He knows how to get you where you need to go, the best way to get there, and at the proper speed. He knows when to shift and He sure knows how to steer!
Today, hear the Word of the Lord for your life: “Take your hands off the steering wheel! Rest in Me! Decisions happen. Let them happen to you. Watch and see what I will do!”
And take your hands off the shifter, too!
