God’s parallels: “I shall provide for you!”

The Lord put me in 1Kings 5 this morning, seemingly at random, because the Bible just opened to it.  Of course, we all know it’s never random when that happens!

My husband and I had been talking over coffee about his career situation and planning for retirement, whenever that is!  But, for this next year, he’s wrestling with some different work opportunities, looking at leaving some, and taking on others.  My husband loves God.  He wants to do what is both right and beneficial for everybody involved, but especially in God’s eyes.

In the same way, it’s a new season for me, too, in the ministry.  I am experiencing a surprising parallel to my husband’s work circumstances.  I was offered something yesterday, something ministry related, that I had never even contemplated before now.  Because of this, supernaturally, yet another “think-prayer” would be answered at the same time!

However, because of this, in the same way as my husband, I am also wrestling with some things.  I also want to do what is both right, and beneficial, for all parties.  I, too, am looking at taking on some new responsibilities, and leaving others behind.  I, too, want to do what is right in God’s eyes, and what is His will.

Somehow, even in the midst of all of these parallels, as I was reading 1 Kings 5 about the saga of the bargains being struck for the initiation of the building of the House of the Lord, I missed it.  Somehow, I completely missed the parallel in my life that God was obviously drawing in His Word.  Somehow, I completely missed that He was speaking directly to me.  It was right here, right in front of me.

1 Kings 5 (AMPC)

5(Solomon said) And I purpose to build a house to the Name of the Lord my God, as the Lord said to David my father, Your son whom I will set on your throne in your place shall build the house to My Name and Presence.

So, Hiram, command them to hew me cedar trees out of Lebanon; my servants shall join yours, and I will give you whatever wages you set for your servants. For you know that no one among us can equal the skill of the Sidon men in cutting timber.

When Hiram heard the words of Solomon, he rejoiced greatly and said, Blessed be the Lord this day, Who has given David a wise son to be over this great people.

And Hiram sent to Solomon, saying, I have considered the things for which you sent to me; I will do all you wish concerning the cedar and cypress timber.

My servants shall bring the logs down from Lebanon to the sea, make them into rafts, and float them by sea to the place that you direct. I will have them released there, and you shall take them away. And you shall fulfill my desire by providing food for my household.

10 So Hiram gave Solomon all the cedar and cypress trees he desired,

11 And Solomon gave Hiram 20,000 measures of wheat for food for his household, and 20 measures of pure, beaten oil.”

Reading this the first time through, I got hung up on the volume of food in verse 11, thinking that it was a relatively small number of ‘measures of oil’ (20) versus the massive amount of ‘measures of wheat’ (20,000).  This prompted me to go back and read this single line of scripture again, to confirm that I had read it properly. Once I knew I had, I continued.

When I went on to the very next line of scripture in verse 11, it literally took my breath away!  I realized, at that exact moment, what the Lord had done.  I saw the parallels that He had drawn, along with the answer He was providing to the questions that we were asking in prayer, and while we talked over coffee – a solution!

This line of scripture states, He gave these to Hiram yearly.”

I fell on my face on the floor and wept at the goodness of God!  Here we are, talking about money…no, not just about MONEY, our annual income for next year…and the Lord surgically inserted me into His Word at the exact spot where He could talk to us about what He intends to do!

All people everywhere, whether we voice it or not, our request to the Lord is the same as Hiram’s request to Solomon – provide food for my family.  “Lord, if we are providing trees for you (which symbolize people who are being saved and impacted by this ministry) then provide for us!  Provide food, clothing, shelter… provide income, Lord! Provide what this ministry needs to not just survive, but to thrive!”

The Lord’s response, through His word is, “Not only shall I provide for you, but I shall provide for you ANNUALLY.  I will provide for you, not just this year, but every year – year in, and year out.

He made it extremely clear this morning that He will provide for us yearly; but not just for me and my husband!  His promises are YES and AMEN to all of His children.  He promises to not only provide for us just once or twice, but yearly will He give to us, just as He gave to Hiram.  That is because we have “made a treaty (see v.12)” with Him…we have agreed to Jesus’ Lordship over our lives. We have agreed to give up what we had, for what He has!  Because of this, He can take what we give Him and multiply it back to us, in good measure!

Now, how much is 20,000 measures of wheat, and 20 measures of oil?  I have no idea.  I know it was enough to provide for Hiram’s family, and it was set up to come every single year.  That’s all that matters.

He did it for Hiram, and He’ll do it for you, too. Just Believe!

I find it interesting that 20,000:20 is a 1000:1 ratio between the measures of wheat and oil.  Perhaps this has to do with Deuteronomy 1:11, whereby the Lord promises to make you 1,000 times greater than you are now!

“May the Lord, the God of your fathers, make you a thousand times as many as you are and bless you as He has promised you!” (Deut. 1:11)

I’m taking that Word and sowing into it!  Won’t you join me by sowing into Edie Bayer and Kingdom Promoters’ Ministry?  I am going to be bold, and ask you to believe for a Deuteronomy 1:11, 1000-fold multiplication blessing BACK TO YOU on every dollar as you sow into this ministry!  Just say this:

“Father, in the Name of Jesus, I thank you for multiplying this seed I am giving today back to me 1,000 times according to your Word in Deuteronomy 1:11.  Thank you, Jesus!”
